No one figure personifies the frontier spirit better than William F., “Buffalo Bill” Cody, the West’s most colorful showman, army scout, and buffalo hunter. And there is no better place to learn about him than North Platte, Nebraska.

Buffalo Bill called North Platte home for more than 40 years of his life. His mansion and barn still exist here today! Buffalo Bill State Historical Park

Your first stop is the Buffalo Bill State Historical Park, located on 16 acres of land that was originally the 4,000-acre spread known as Scout's Rest Ranch. The primary home of Buffalo Bill from 1886 to 1913, the park features Cody’s second Empire-style mansion and the barn originally used as a stable to house horses. Now, the park is filled with a number of Cody’s own possessions and years of Wild West history to take in.
